What is Public Law?
Public Law constitutes a set of rules that govern the relations between citizens and the state as well as, the functions of both central and local administration. It involves the administrative, criminal, tax and constitutional law. Its functions are related with administrative decisions taken by public bodies. For example, if a citizen believes a decision of an administrative authority was unfair towards him, he can go to court and demand for judicial review. As governments also, must obey to the applied legislation, their power cannot be exercised without the appropriate check by the control bodies. This sector covers also the state’s relations with other states and international bodies. However, we shouldn’t confuse Public Law with the International Public Law which refers to completely different sectors of law.
